What a frighteningly brilliant talent. He makes Messi look like Graham Paddon, and he's only 19.

Messi has scored over 600 career goals in about roughly the same amount of games, FYI.

Special player who can be world class as demonstrated by his price tag but remember that defence was pretty rubbish yesterday.

From the little I had seen of him prior to this tournament and in group games, he looked good but couldn't understand the hype.
Yesterdays game was one where his talent clearly shone out and put himself firmly up there.
His pace was frightening and with the ability around him, France look a good bet now

Graham Paddon was a very underated player, thunderous left foot

Everyone seems to be creaming themselves off the back of one game. Bit early to be labelling him as a superstar.

Excellent player, though France won't be anywhere close to winning the world cup for me.
Haven't played a decent team yet, though fairly amusing how many are wanking over them now.
Would fancy myself against that argies defence.

As indicated by his price tag...how much did Pogba cost?
Looks promising..but comparing him to Messi

He has great pace, strength and skill, and can score goals.
Not unlike the original Ronaldo. Except he did it in the Italian and Spanish leagues and 2 world cups, overcoming a terrible injury in the process.
Mbappe has great potential but still a long way to go. Saying he’s better than Messi is ridiculous.

And how was that a penalty yesterday? Why didn't the defender just let him run the ball out of play? He was going nowhere.

The Argies made France and Mbappe look like world beaters yesterday, let's face it. I'm not convinced. They started acting all Big Time Charlie with backheels and flicks and it'll be no bad thing if France have started believing their own hype before they've even beaten anyone decent.

A lot of people comparing her performance yesterday with Owen's against the Argies in 19998.
Whilst Owen had some moments though he never truly got to the world class level and his career pretty much petered out by the time was 25. No guarantee that any player is going to rise to and stay at the heights their teenage potential promises.

Mbappe has already had an amazing season for Monaco which led to his loan move to PSG last season and a huge fee if they sign him.
He’s definitely no flash in the pan.

They have to sign him, it was only structured that way to get around FFP.

He just ran away from players. It was a pen because he burst past the defender who panicked because he was getting away from him so there wasn’t any question of keeping him away from goal. You could maybe argue the first contact was outside the box but was a pen all day for me. Uruguay have two top strikers and a strong defence. If Cavanni plays they have a chance as France are just as capable of reverting to how they played in the group matches.

Injuries did for Owen. His game was all about pace and they robbed him of a yard or two. He remained quick enough to be a very good striker but it robbed him of being up there with the very best.
